Scott  Cookson

1954 ~ 2003

I AM FREE

Don't grieve for me, for now I am free
I'm following the path God laid for me
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back, and left it all
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
Our friendships shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss
Be not burdened in times of sorrow
I wish you sunshine of tomorrow
My life's been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, and a lovers touch
Perhaps my time seems all too brief
Don't mention it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me, now, He set me free!

Scott Cookson, 49 years of age passed from this earth in Las Vegas  June 26, 2003.  He was born July 3, 1954 in Norwalk California, he married his wife Ann in California, Scott was a 1972 graduate of Piedmont High School and went on to attend Butte College in Northern California. He worked at the Riverside County and Clark County as a Building Inspector and Plans Examiner .

This Webpage was made to pay honor and respect to our dear friend, father, husband and son.  Scott left behind his Parents, two brothers ,and his wife Ann and five wonderful daughters, Tausha, Shelly, Mary, Michelle and Alicia. He also was blessed with 9 grandchildren.

Scott loved to take long walks and do woodworking. His favorite sports teams were of course the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. Yah Buddy he would say Go Giants !!

When I asked his Children what one lesson they thought Scott might want to pass on to his children and Grandchildren?  They said he would want them to be independent and to always do there best, go for your dreams and make sure you always have God in your hearts.

We were told Scott’s eyes would always light up when he saw his wife Ann enter the room and he loved to see his Children grow up and tackle their problems and make things right in their lives.

One of Scott’s favorite sayings was “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” . The world is a better place because of Scott , many people work and sleep in a safer building because Scott took the time to do his job well as an Inspector and Plans Examiner.

I asked his Children if there was any one thing Scott would want me to say, they said Scott would say he was sorry that he had to leave us so early and that he loved you all dearly.

Scott was a friend of mine, he was a brother and he took the time to tell me about his dear friend... Jesus Christ in 1985.

Thank you Scott may you stay forever young !!
